Better Betak Manifesto
Our sustainability manifesto, the twelve commandments that turn it into practice on every production, and the partners who make it possible.
For more than thirty years, we have pushed the limits of our skill and passion to craft inspiring events as an industry leader. Today, we keep innovating so that everything we build leaves the lightest possible mark.
Better Betak
Manifesto, 2026 edition
Better Betak is the laboratory we opened to record what we observe, the solutions we test and the commitments we hold ourselves to. Read them online or keep a copy.
Our sustainability manifesto, the twelve commandments that turn it into practice on every production, and the partners who make it possible.
Our materiality matrix, strategic KPIs and results across environment, social and governance, from sets and energy to health, safety and suppliers.
We published our first ten commandments in 2020, each tied to actions already carried out on our productions. The list keeps growing with our experience and with our industry.
Integrate sustainability into the design and production of every event.
Minimise impact by reusing materials throughout our productions.
Give set decor a second life through local arts and social associations.
Sort on site and recycle what cannot be used again. Compost organic waste.
Eliminate single-use plastic and install water fountains on set.
Serve local, seasonal, plant-rich meals and redistribute what is left.
Connect to the city grid, favour renewable supply and biofuels over fossil fuels.
Travel efficiently, hire locally and cut non-essential flying.
Measure the carbon footprint of our events and support verified climate projects.
Support local economies and employment, and give back through NGOs.
Use digital tools while staying mindful of their footprint.
Deliver our cultural message with care, to foster inclusion and tolerance.
Founded in 1990 by Alexandre de Betak, Bureau Betak produces over 100 fashion shows, exhibitions and events around the world each year, from its offices in Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai.
We see sustainability not as a constraint on creativity but as an invitation to innovate, and we share what we learn so that others can go further.
